Bracksco has been offering our customers
Breezaire wine cooling systems
-- the same brand we use -- since 2004, at very low prices. Breezaire
is one of the oldest (since 1985) and most trusted names in wine refrigeration systems, custom
manufactured in the USA, with a FIVE YEAR WARRANTY on parts (1 year on
labor all units; 1 year for WKS series parts -- see warranty
links below). We are an authorized Breezaire distributor (the only one in NC,
SC, GA, and TN, but we sell units nationwide).
Call us to consult on your needs. We know
how to build wine rooms, and we can help you
pick the right system. For instance:
- How do glass doors, uninsulated
floors, and recessed ceiling lights affect your requirements?
- Can part
of the unit stick outside the room?
- Can you vent outside?
- Can you duct inside?
- Can you replace a WKS4000 with a WKSL4000?
- What do
you need to know if the temperature drops below 20 degrees and you want a split
system with the compressor outside?
If we
don't know the answer, we'll get it for you!

Series Designations and Their Options
- WKL Sentry III Control series, with a digital LED thermostat mounted
on the unit

-
WKE Sentinel II Microprocessor Control series with remote monitoring
($105 more than WKL) - this system allows the inside fan to be left on for continual
air circulation, helpful for odd-shaped rooms; the condenser speed varies
based on temperature, making it more efficient; and the temperature
control/monitor can be mounted remotely via a user-supplied telephone cable
- WKCE Series for Cabinets (see photo below, but with digital LED
thermostat)
- WKSL Series (split system - see description in next section)
- Note: The original WK, WKC, and WKS series with the mechanical thermostats
were discontinued in 2010. With one exception, the units above are the
same size and capacity.

WKC2200 in Wine Cabinet
(Now available as WKCE2200 w/LED thermostat)
Note that when replacing these units, the power cord is on
the inside of the cabinet (as shown). Some older units have
the power cord fed through the rear, and you will now
have to supply power via outlet or extension cord inside.
Note the cool air outlet on the bottom (left side), unique to this model.
Styles
- Through-the-Wall venting (WKL, WKE series): Usually completely
inside the house, which is the most common installation, but can occasionally be mounted
on an outside wall; prices start at $695 plus shipping. OPTION: power
Cord-On-Back mod (COB $70). The power cord length
is 4½'.
- For cabinets (WKCE series): Small units intended for wine
cabinets and small closets, as shown above; the air blows downward through the bottom.
OPTION: hot air Vent-Through-Top (VTT $70). There is no rear-cord
option -- see note under picture above. Please consult with us before
ordering a replacement unit, as some vendors, like Vinothèque, have modified
their units in various ways. The power cord length is 4'.
- Split system (WKSL series): condenser outside the house, fan and coil
inside the wine room, connected together via a copper lineset and low-voltage
wire; requires professional installation. ASK US about things like maximum lineset lengths!
We can offer the very best deals on these units – best
in the country, we believe! And we can offer "tips" on installation you
may not get elsewhere.
| "Received the Breezaire shipment
today and found no shipping damage. Got here quicker than I thought it
would. Some other websites I visited quoted 6-10 week delivery. Thanks for
getting the order in quickly and for getting this shipment moving so
quickly." (Bracksco customer) |
Models and Pricing
We offer units to handle wine rooms of six different sizes (cubic feet:
length x width x height). In the table below, available models are identified.
The 4-digit number in each model indicates the number of BTUs. NOTE:
If you have a room with a glass door or window, minimal insulation, or an above
ground outside wall in warm climates, be sure to bump up your cubic foot requirement.
In any case, never undersize. Call for assistance!

| Bottle Probe |
The bottle probe plugs in
to the Sentry III or other control unit on the front of WKL, WKE, WKCE,
and WKSL units.
Temperature sensing is then switched from air to the fluid in the bottle.

COST: $35 with free shipping if ordered with a cooler;
add $15 S&H if
ordered alone. |
| Modifications |
Cord on Back
(through-the-wall units only) or Vent Through Top (cabinet models only):
$70.
These are custom-built and will take 1-3 weeks extra. |
| * The 6000/8000 series
units have blowers that move 2-3 times as much air as the 3000/4000
units' fans. This can be especially helpful in odd-shaped wine rooms
or less-than-ideal mounting locations to balance out the airflow. In
other words, you may wish to consider a WKE6000 in place of a WKE4000
in these circumstances. |
SHIPPING: Units are shipped at actual cost (currently
$25 to $90), please call! Because of high air freight costs,
units are shipped FedEx ground, though you can opt for 3-day air or even overnight.
See Availability below.
Note: The two WKSL split system models are effectively sold as "parts."
You must have a licensed HVAC/Refrigeration installer supply the necessary connectors
and charge the system with refrigerant. The inside unit usually sits high on the wall
and is not mounted through the wall. It is intended to be hung
on the wall, but it may also sit on a shelf (we recommend this approach). Both components run on 120 VAC,
but they are connected via a low-voltage wire (which was not true of the
predecessor WKS units).
The WKSL models were redesigned in 2010 to take R134A
refrigerant, which has increased installation flexibility but has shortened
maximum line length.
Ask us about these restrictions on lineset length and other
installation issues! These are just some of the helpful hints you get
by dealing with Bracksco!

Warranty
Repair Options
- When units fail, they typically "freeze up" (frost on the cabinet)
or run longer and longer with less cool air until cool air stops altogether.
These symptoms inevitably mean there is a refrigeration leak, and the leaking
component must be replaced. Your decision to repair or replace [this is
a Bracksco opinion] will probably be driven by the age of the unit:
under 5 years, consider repair; 5-10 year: 50/50 choice; over 10 years:
replace! Cabinet units tend to fail sooner than other units, probably
because they are likely to run more, and most owners choose replacement at
greater than 5 years.
- Warranty service is ONLY available from Breezaire in Southern
California.
- If your unit fails during the first year, Breezaire pays for everything,
including shipping in both directions, though you must pay for shipment to
them, submitting a receipt for reimbursement.
- After the first year (for non-split systems), you have a five year
warranty (e.g., 4 more years) on PARTS. You pay for shipping in both directions plus labor.
YOU MUST SAVE YOUR ORIGINAL BOX FOR SHIPMENT! (To
ship from the East coast, a WKL2200 would cost about $65 each way; a WKL4000
about $85.)
- If you return your unit to Breezaire during years 2-5, they will diagnose
the problem for free. You will be told the cost of repair, which might
vary from $100 to $500, and you can decide to have them repair it, return it unrepaired, or junk it.
If you junk it, note that Breezaire does not sell replacement units --
you must go though a dealer (like Bracksco).
- Except for split systems, units are sealed with rivets to avoid
"tampering." If the rivets are removed, the warranty is void, but this
is what any repair person will have to do to service the unit locally for you
at your expense. An onsite diagnostic visit will probably cost you about
$100 before repairs are made. Suggestion: ask in advance what a
coil replacement or compressor replacement might cost to see if you are
willing to pay that much.
- For split systems, the warranty is only for one year, and you will need to
pay for parts, labor, and shipping if you return one of the two components
after the first year.
Since these systems are non-riveted, fairly standard refrigeration units, you
should be able to find a local refrigeration repair service to work on them,
possibly obtaining parts from Breezaire. NOTE that we can sell you a
complete replacement for either the inside or outside unit, if you decide not
to have it serviced or repaired or fully replaced.
- Technicians: Except the the Triangle area of NC where we are located, we cannot help
refer you to qualified technicians for repair -- sorry!
Availability
Breezaire cooling systems are custom manufactured and shipped directly from the
factory in California to avoid duplicate shipping charges. With the
possible exception of WKSL4000 and modifications, models generally
ship within a week or so of order. Sorry, Breezaire coolers and
parts are not returnable.
