Attention Triangle Area of NC recipients:  Bracksco owner Fred Brack will be presenting a luncheon seminar in Raleigh on Wednesday, June 17, from 11:30 to 1 pm on the topic, Wine Racking for Home or Business, From 6 to 6000 Bottles.  Here's the official description:

Like Wine?  Do you wonder about proper storage?  Have you ever considered converting a closet to a wine room or building a wine cellar?  Here’s your chance to explore possibilities, from small tabletop or wall racks to an insulated and cooled closet or “cellar” to store your wine.  We’ll discuss what’s important in storing wine, wine racking options, and what’s involved in building a proper storage room for wine.

If you are interested in attending, please signup at EventBrite.  The seminar is free, but there is a $15 restaurant charge for lunch (and it's a very good lunch!).  If you can't attend but are interested in possibly building your own wine room, please check our presentation on the subject, Building Your Own Wine Room on our website.  The link is also accessible at the top of our main web page.

Wine and Liquor Industry Notes:  In 2008, US wine consumption continued to grow, but at a more moderate pace than previous years (approximately 1% versus 4% in 2007).  Irish Whiskey sales topped the growth list for hard liquor at 20%, but the top selling liquor in the US by a good margin was Smirnoff Vodka, followed by Bacardi Rum.  The top selling wine brand in the US remains Yellow Tail from Australia, with Sutter Home not far behind.  The biggest growth (47%) came from Barefoot Wines (owned by Gallo).  (These figures came from Beverage World magazine.)
