Bruce Slaney
1946-2018

Michael Bruce Slaney, 72, passed away at his home in Plymouth on Christmas Eve surrounded by his loving family.

He was the devoted husband of Ellen Genereux Slaney for 41 years and the loving father of Meredith Slaney of Centerville and Mikaela Slaney Schultz of Quincy. He enjoyed a special bond with their partners Dan Eslick and Jake Schultz.

He is survived by his sister Christy Tierney and her husband Jeff of Florida, Ellen Slaney of New Hampshire, Jill Toomey of Boston, and Jacqueline Mascetta and her husband Nick of Northborough. He was the cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews who remained an important part of his life.

He was born in Mass. on August 14, 1946 to Kenneth Slaney and Glenda Gass Slaney. He was a graduate of Needham High School and Northeastern University. He enlisted in the United States Army Reserve. He was employed as an independent computer consultant contracting with Fidelity Bank until his retirement in 2012.

He was known for his quick and clever wit. He was a man who always put his family first over himself. He never met a dog he didn’t love and will be missed by his Lola and Ernie. He valued his special and longtime friends, skiing the mountains of Vermont, walking the Plymouth harbor, golfing, cheering on the New England Patriots, traveling, enjoying his morning coffee on the front porch, and “hugging like you mean it”.

A wake will be held at the Davis Funeral Home located at 373 Court St. in North Plymouth on Saturday, December 29th from 4:00 till 7:00 pm. A service will be in the funeral home officiated by Terry Holbrook the following day at 11:00 am. Burial will take place with the family at a later date.

Donations in Bruce’s memory may be made for the patients of Cranberry Hospice located at 36 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth, MA 02360. Their care and support to Bruce’s family made it possible for him to spend his final days in the comfort of his own home in the loving arms of his family.

We are so grateful to have had you in our lives, “Dad”. We miss you terribly but hold you in our hearts.
