Remembrance from Phil Robey:

This is a hard one, sending you a note on JB.

Paul and I saw John for lunch back in April (4/20/15), he had just been given a clean bill of
health, removing a tumor earlier and then having gone through a 'whipple' (?) (term unknown to me
until yesterday when talking with his sister Barbie a nurse). The way it was described "take
all your insides out, clean and put back in." John was on the table for 12-14 hrs. Although
looking a little pale and tired back in April, assumption was a little sunshine and he was
going to be good to go. He had a good month, then the end of May, first of June he and
Carol received word that his cancer had returned.

Their 3 boys and their families had a chance to visit. 7 grandchildren
with son Mike's wife expecting the 8th grandchild (oldest 6yrs). Not to go into
great detail but JB was with Paul and I at Providence College and we ended up
rooming together off campus our senior year. Starting with 6 of us in 1984 we started a weekend
away with PC '68 guys and have continued to this day, now 30 strong, JB was there at the beginning
and we always knew if we couldn't some how get together during the year we would be together
at the PC Fall Classic. As for his boys, and now just spending a brief time with them these past
few days I would describe them as solid, down to earth, successful, great family men, and men
with strong values. Based on oldest son Dan's eulogy Carol and John did a great job.
He ran the race and he finished with glory.
