Remembrances by Classmates

From Fred Brack

Fred Brack and Sandy Fisher, Horsehead Beach, 1964Sandy was my first date.  She invited me to what I think was called the Rainbow Club dance.  Boy was I nervous!  Had to consult with mom.

I wouldn't say we were boyfriend/girlfriend exactly, but I did walk her home from Pollard a lot, and I met her family.  We stayed friends over the years.

She was an airline stewardess for awhile.  Then she met a Pakistani man, married him, and they ran an oriental rug business in Newton for a few years.  We got together occasionally.  One day he returned to Pakistan and didn't come back, as I recall.  Sandy moved to Holliston and lived in a big house with son Jamie and her dogs -- many of them over the years.  She loved dogs.  And cigarettes -- her ultimate downfall.  Never remarried.  Worked locally.  Came to reunions.  Occasional emails.  Used to get a card at Christmas, but none last year.  Occasional posts on Facebook.

Apparently she had a major health issue which was under control for awhile, then it wasn't.  I'll miss her.  Wish we had talked before the end ...

Fred

From Marcia Fellows Schwieder

Sandy Fisher and Marcia Fellows circa 1963Sandy and I were the very best of friends from Pollard on.  She lived one street apart from me and we always walked together to school.

One of my funny memories is when she and I decided in our Senior year to skip school.  I always went to her house in the morning and we walked to school from there.  The day we skipped we stayed at her house since no one was home.  We crawled around on the floor so no one would see us, laughing the entire time.  We got caught anyway but it was fun.

We remained close friends after we graduated and moved on - her to Greeley, Colorado, and me to Amherst, Massachusetts.

I lived in Grants, NM, for awhile and went to visit her in Greeley when my first born was just a baby.

Over the years, I visited her in Holliston whenever I went back to the East Coast to visit my family.  We got together on Cape Cod once.  She came to see me at Mom's several times in New Hampshire and also to my sister Nan's place in Westminster.

We always called each other on our birthdays and swore we would talk more often.  I knew something was up when I did not hear from her on my birthday in 2021.  So very sad that she is gone.  I miss her terribly.

Marcia
